Cornell vs. UAlbany
With a six goal performance from CJ Kirst, Cornell was able to have a domination victory over UAlbany 15-6. The win came from the strong performance of the Cornell defense, which only allowed three goals in the first forty five minutes of the game, after Cornell’s offense had a slow start but picked it up in the second half. Hugh Kelleher scored three goals and one assist, Micheal Long had four assists and one goal, and Willem Firth scored two goals. With this win, Cornell has to go play Richmond.
Richmond vs. North Carolina
A Huge upset Richmond stuns North Carolina giving Richmond their first ever NCAA Tournament victory. This win came from the help of Lucus Littlejohn, with a four goal game, and with the help of Gavin Cero with two goals and one assist. The spiders started the game off slowly being down 5-2 at the end of the first half, but in the second half they flipped the switch with two dominating quarters scoring seven goals in the third compared to UNC four. In the fourth, Richmond scored four goals compared to UNC one. With this win Richmond had to go and play Number one Cornell.
Penn State vs. Colgate
Penn State beats Colgate 13-11, with the help of Liam Matthews’ four goal performance. But also with the help of Ethan Long with three assists and one goal, and Matt Traynor three goal performance. Penn State were the high favorites for this, and many didn’t see this to be a close game. At the end of the first half it was 5-5, and in the second half Penn state started off hot giving them the boost they needed for the win. With this win Penn state has to play defending champions Notre Dame.
Ohio State vs. Notre Dame
Notre Dame stuns the lacrosse world with a dominant 15-6 win over Big Ten champions Ohio State, who were seen as big favorites to win it all this year. This win came from the help of Jake Taylor with three goals and one assists, Chris Kavanagh with three goals and two assists, and Will Angrick with two goals and one assist. The momentum came after a strong second quarter scoring six and then out-scoring Ohio State for the last two other quarters. This was a big win for the Fighting Irish after having a bad year compared to last year. With this win Notre Dame will be playing Penn State.
Princeton vs. Towson
Princeton dominates the young and up and coming Towson Tigers 22-12. This win comes from the offensive Dominance of Princeton, and the pure shooting ability Princeton has. Some of the players that stood out in this game was, Nate Kabiri with five goals and two assists, Collin Burns with four goals, Tucker Wade with five goals and two assists, and Coulter Mackesy with one goal and four assists. Along with Ohio State, Princeton is high favorites to win the national championship. With this win Princeton plays the winner of Syracuse vs. Harvard.
Syracuse vs. Harvard
This game was a nail biter and came down to overtime, but teams with high potential to make a run deep into the championship. Syracuse was very slow in this game throughout the first three quarters only scoring five points, but in the fourth quarter Syracuse offense Bloomed scored seven goals this quarter and tied the game. Luke Rhoa scored four goals, Trey Deere scored two goals, and Joey Spallina and Owen Hiltz both had one goal and two assists. About one minute into Overtime Joey Spallina passes the ball to Owen Hiltz and he scores, winning the game and sending Syracuse to the second round. Where they will face the red hot Princeton Tigers.
Duke vs. Georgetown
An unexpected decent win for the Hoyas over the Blue devils 16-12, Duke seems to be getting worse and are losing their power house status from the last few years. The Hoyas victory came from a monster performance from attackman Aidan Carroll, who had six goals and two assists for an eighth point game. Aidan had support with attackman Fulton Bayman with four goals and one assist, and Patrick Crogan with three goals. Georgetown had an all around complete game but a little defensive slip up in the second quarter getting out scored 4-6. With this win, the Hoyas face the winner of Maryland Vs. Air Force.
Maryland vs. Air Force
A nice solid win for the Terps over Air Force 13-5. This win came from a six goal performance for attackman Eric Spanos, but also with the help of Daniel Kelly with two goals, and Braden Erksa and Zach Whitter both had one goal and two assists. The Maryland offense was effective throughout the whole game except for the fourth quarter, where they only were able to score one goal. Spanos completed the hat trick in the first quarter, and his career high in points. With this win the Terps will face the Georgetown hoyas.
