This year’s senior signing day consisted of twenty-seven student athletes moving onto their next journey, and WHS could not be more proud of them. With all of their hard work these athletes will go on to be great contributors to their future schools. Mia Ogg, a four year field hockey player at WHS will be attending University of Mount Olive in North Carolina in the fall. She began her journey in sports from a young age. She has played four years of varsity field hockey at WHS, along with four years of basketball, two years of lacrosse and two years of unified track and field. Mia kept busy with being an all season athlete. She has not only excelled athletically but also academically. She is at the top of this year’s senior class and won the basketball team’s academic award this year.
WHS soccer player Jordan Bosco will be leaving the DMV and attending Alvernia University in Pennsylvania to further his athletic and academic career. He has been playing soccer since the age of three. Along with his years playing soccer at WHS he also participated in track and field his freshman year and even played tennis his senior year. He also excels in the classroom; his teachers always have something nice to say about him. Throughout high school he has maintained impressive grades while balancing his athletics and clubs. Jordan was voted Frederick County’s MVP for Mock Trial two years in a row, along with the Frederick County All Star Attorney award his senior year. Bosco says, “when I first joined my now club soccer team, my coach saw the potential in me and lit the fire for college under my belly. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t be playing in college.” WHS wishes him well and can’t wait to hear how his first collegiate soccer game goes!

Addison Boram, a WHS basketball player, will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia. She also began playing basketball at a young age hoping to one day become a professional basketball player. She played basketball all year with her travel team, as well as participating in high school basketball. She even developed a taste for cross country and participated for two years. When asked what made her want to play in college she said, “I love playing, I can’t imagine what my life would be without it.” Having a dedication to a sport is unmatched; a feeling many can relate to.
We are wishing all of these athletes great success in their futures. We know that each and every one of them will put their all into everything they face. WHS is proud to be a part of their journey as they move on to show what being a Lion is all about.
I myself am a senior with this being my last article. I too, am moving on and will be attending Penn State. While I might not be playing for the school team, I am hoping to get involved with IM basketball. Being a part of journalism this year has helped me develop as a writer and has even pushed me to consider pursuing a sports journalist career. Who knows where the road will go… but for now I am upgrading from a Lion to a Nittany Lion. Thank you WHS for these last four years.
