There was a lot going on at Walkersville during the month of March that should be both acknowledged and celebrated. It also marked the end of the term, and brought in an influx of colds, flus, and field trips. In other words, with so much going on, the Lion Times reporters wrote more articles than ever. Below are a few things that didn’t make it into a full article, but we felt were important to note.
Future Famers of America
FFA is a career and technical student organization that promotes and supports agricultural education, focusing on developing leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. There is a large and active chapter at WHS which runs many different programs through the year, including sausage sales, strawberry sales, plant sales, youth programs at the Great Frederick Fair, and many competitions.
The regional FFA Competition was held on March 5 at Walkersville High School. Students from around the county came and competed based on their knowledge of a particular subject. The WHS FFA team gave outstanding speeches. In the Individual Speaking category: FFA Creed, Lena Miletic placed 4th, and Hayden Tennent placed 9th. In the Extemporaneous Speaking category, Trajan Urban placed 3rd. In the Individual Mechanics category, Wyatt New placed 3rd, Jacob Inskeep placed 4th, Logan Boston placed 5th, and Wyatt Weinrich placed 9th.
On March 26th, Alexi Jones, Fallyn Harker, Cash Ritchie, Tommy Beard, and Lily Crum continued to represent WHS in the FFA Region 2 Leadership Conference at The Frederick Fairgrounds. Way to go FFA!

Key Club
On March 22, 2025, nine members of Key Club attended the District Convention in Washington DC, where they connected with Key Club members from all over DC, MD, VA, and WV. They received an Honorable Mention Award for their Digital Scrapbook which was put together by Evan Boledovic. Isha Patel received an award for Above and Beyond Member for their division.
Key Club is the oldest and largest student-led, high school organization focused on community service, leadership development, and character building, sponsored by Kiwanis International. They are one of the largest clubs at WHS. While they have served the community through fund raisers and community projects, they have also directly helped WHS through stadium cleanups and school involvement. If you found your Valentine’s heart, its because a Key Club member put it out there for you to find. Great work team!
